UNHCR, acronym for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, is the UN Refugee Agency. UNHCR’s primary goal is to grant all peoples “the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to eventually return home, integrate or resettle.” During emergencies, like the refugees being displaced by climate change, and addressing the future of the world through technology, the UNHCR works to provide basic necessities and shelter for displaced peoples. By sending aid, safeguarding individuals, and protection, the UNHCR hopes to help rebuild broken lives of refugees to live the lives they deserve.

Head Chair: Jacob Young
Vice Chair: Kaylie Matthews
E-mail: griffmun19wc@gmail.com

Committee Information:

Welcome brothers and sisters to the Wakandan Council. This is the council that was formed to advise the current king of Wakanda, T’Challa, in decisions that impact Wakanda. In committee, we will be holding a meeting of the Wakandan Council, plus a few special guests. This will be set in the MCU, post-Killmonger, in a Wakanda that is divided over whether the lessons of Killmonger held any truth, and it is the council’s job to decide on what action should be taken (for this committee’s sake, the true status of Wakanda hasn’t been revealed yet and isn’t a part of the UN).
